Welcome to Garrett Sadler Glass, my fused and kiln formed glass studio.
I began fusing glass in 2011, excited to explore the infinite potential of glass as a medium. I live and work in Vermont, where my studio looks west over the Adirondack Mountains, a constant inspiration. My work is represented in several Vermont galleries and I am delighted to accept commissions for vessels and wall art.
- Furchgott Sourdiffe Gallery in Shelburne, Vermont (https://fsgallery.com/artists/garrett-sadler/)
- Art in the Village, Warren, VT (https://www.artinthevillagevermont.com/)
My glass artworks, whether decorative or functional, reflect my meditations on the beauty and stillness to be found in the natural world. I am inspired by the seasonal changes in the fields and forests of northern Vermont, the granite lined lakes of Quebec's Gatineau Region and the open skies of the Champlain Valley.
I love to find order within chaos. My process involves making and breaking glass elements through multiple firings to find the perfect expression of the patterns and colors in my mind.
In 2014, I was awarded Best in Functional Glass at the 2014 Taos Art Glass Invitational, a biennial event that brings the best in international, regional, and local studio art glass to Taos, New Mexico. My work has been published in Lenox Living Magazine, The Citizen, and The Shelburne News (http://www.shelburnenews.com/2018/01/18/garrett-sadler-glass-artist-pace-pieces-together-creations/).
I am grateful to all of my teachers for their contribution to my knowledge and love of glass: Mark Abilgaard, Linda Ethier, Karl Harron, Robert Leatherbarrow, Alicia Lomne, Emma Varga, Catherine Newell, Pavel Novak, Richard Parrish, Amanda Taylor, Lance Taylor, and Emma Varga.
